Panama Update #144

I am writing this (10:00 PM) as I wait for Michael G. and his family to arrive. We expect them by 11:00 PM or hopefully sooner. I have scheduled a taxi to take them to the Mires Flores Locks Observation deck tomorrow at 9:00 AM. After that they want to rent a car and go to El Valle, but it is not clear if they will go there on Monday or Tuesday. When I talked to him he said he has no reservations so they can keep it flexible.
The big news today is that the woman who is renting our house in Minneapolis emailed and she has decided not to renew the lease for another year. She will be vacating the house on June 30. Since I have renewed my job in Minneapolis and it looks like we will be living there for next school year, we will probably move back into the house rather than looking for someone else to rent it. If we know someone who wants to rent it we would possibly do it, and then we would rent an apartment for less money than the mortgage. We are happy about moving back there, but we think it will be very strange at first getting used to living in Minneapolis again after being gone for the year. We really had the mindset that we would not be back, so we are adjusting again. Most of all we are just taking it day to day as best we can. Since we brought most of our furniture up to the cabin before we left last summer, we will probably just buy cheaper, more portable furniture to use in the house this time around.
